Morning Game Drive

 Monday April 13

Even though we have no aircon the fan kept us coolish and we both had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was ordinary, food not great here, good beer though - Tusker!

On our way by 7, not sure what to expect after seeing a leopard yesterday. After our African massage we enter the park for more African massage. It is Ann and I down the back today and it is a very cramped and bumpy ride. Within 10 minutes of entering, our driver believes he has sighted a cat. How he saw it is incredible, it must have been at least 500 metres away, any way we approach and I cannot believe it - a cheetah! It is amazing and we get within 20 metres and watch her from different angles for at least 40 minutes-unbelievable. Our guide tells us when they kill a prey they eat as much as they can very quickly, as they are the weakest of the cats and cannot defend themselves against other predators including Hyenas and wild dogs. So they eat quickly and move on leaving the rest of the kill.

We continue on and come across various bird life, impala, more reticulated giraffes, wart hogs, Zebras - both kinds and a large herd of oryx. Also on the list were  baboons and eagles, but no elephants or lions today.
