Capetown 24 March 2026

Had a good nights sleep, practically asleep when my head hit the pillow. Woke up a few times but managed to sleep most of the time to 6 am. It is a beautiful morning with 30 degrees expected. We went down for breakfast just after 8 am and waited for the others to join us. Ross and Karen finally got here just before midnight as their plane was also held up. Also discovered last night I do not have a correct electrical adaptor plug so couldn’t charge anything last night including Ann’s hearing aids.

We are all back together again by 9.15 and we have a lovely breakfast at our hotel.

I am pretty certain that this may be our last big overseas adventure, particularly where significant plane travel is involved. We are getting too old to put up with delayed flights, rushing to make connections and plane journeys over 10 hours.

After breakfast we head out the V&A waterfront area for our hop on/off bus tour. The tour takes us round the city, up to table top mountain and then to Camps Bay and back around the coast to where we started. Table Top is impressive and we plan to return tomorrow to take the cable car to the top.

Now it is time for a beer and we head to the market area where there is a food, beer and wine shed! After a nice cold refreshing lager I head off to find an adaptor. There is a Shopping mall only 5 minutes away and I have success. We then decide to have a late lunch and a couple of Waygu burgers and fries hit the spot.

It has been quite warm and sunny, a beautiful day. On the way back we pick up some red wine and nibbles that will feed us until breakfast tomorrow.
