Ilala Lodge farewell dinner

We head out at 6.30 for our farewell dinner which is a BBQ on the banks of the Zambezi. As we get close to the location we have to stop to let a herd of 6 Zebras cross the road in front of our bus.

It is a lovely location and we are welcomed by a cultural group singing a Cappella and dancing in costume.

We have some snacks to start with then a butternut pumpkin soup and then bbq beef, chicken and crocodile. Baked potato, salads, coleslaw and garlic bread. For dessert we have citrus panna cotta, but the serving is held up because a herd of elephants is passing by. The chef has to wait until they clear before he can go and get them!

We eventually get home by 9 pm and just outside our door is 4 hippos grazing on the grass! They are about 20 metres from our outdoor area! What an incredible way to finish this part of our safari.
