What a day! Ross and Karen arrive and we are all set to go, after checking and rechecking our packing list. Our transport arrives on time and by noon we are off to the airport to catch our 3 pm flight to Sydney. We are at the airport by 1.10 pm. On the way there we got a message that our flight had been delayed and was now departing at 3.20. John and Kaye arrive just before 2. We then get another delay message now departing at 3.50 and then a later one for 4.10. Apparently delays because of Sydney weather.
We end up boarding at 4.10 pm and then pull away at 4.20. We taxi for quite a long way and then just before heading on to the runway, we turn back towards the gates and sit on the tarmac - not a good sign. At 4.50 the captain makes an announcement that that there is a fault light in the cockpit and they expect to clear it in 10 mins and be on our way.. At 5.10 the captain announces that the minor fault has been cleared and we take off at 5.20. It was a very smooth flight and we land at 6.30. Bags arrive relatively quickly and we are at the bus stop at 7 pm for the transfer to the International terminal. The bus comes at 7.15 and by the time we get to the hotel it is almost 8 pm!
Glad we went up to Sydney the night before! Although at one stage while sitting on the tarmac I was thinking we were not going to take off tonight.
We did have clear skies and a nice view flying into Sydney.
